Twin Churches

Built  around the 13th century side by side, twin churches are located a little ahead of St. Francis Church in Famagusta. The one on the left, the smaller one, belonged to the Knights Templars (an association of crusading knights organised to protect European pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land), whereas the one on the right belonged to the Knights Hospitallers (a Christian organisation founded  in 1080 in Jerusalem, to care for the poor, sick or injured pilgrims to the Holy Land).

The churches have been restored, and are now being used by the Cyprus Art Society for exhibitions.
